How to Keep Faith During Difficult Times

2026-04-065 min read

Faith does not remove hardship, but it can steady us through it. Here is what it looks like to keep trusting God when life feels heavy.

There are seasons in life when everything feels heavier than expected. The bills do not stop. The stress keeps building. The answers do not come as quickly as we hoped. In those moments, it can be tempting to believe that faith should feel stronger, cleaner, or more certain than it does.

But real faith is not always loud. Sometimes faith looks like praying when you are tired. Sometimes it looks like choosing not to give up for one more day. Sometimes it is as simple as whispering, "God, help me," and trusting that He hears you.

At Victor Newman Ministries, we have seen people hold on to faith in the middle of addiction, grief, sickness, loneliness, and instability. What keeps many people going is not perfection. It is the steady reminder that God is still present, even in the hardest chapters.

Faith during difficult times is not pretending everything is fine. It is bringing your fear, your pain, and your questions to God honestly. Scripture shows us that again and again. People cried out. They wrestled. They waited. And God remained faithful.

If you are in a hard season, start small. Read a few verses each day. Ask someone to pray with you. Stay connected to people who will speak life over you. Do not isolate yourself in the pain. Hard times can make us withdraw, but healing often begins when we stay open to God and to others.

That is one reason ministries like Friday Food Fellowship matter. Sometimes people come for practical support, but they also leave with encouragement, prayer, and a reminder that they are not alone.

Faith does not mean you never feel weak. It means weakness does not get the final word. God can still strengthen you, guide you, and carry you through this season one day at a time.
